Our client is one of Ireland’s power utility contractors. They are key partners to the ESB on national framework contracts. They have grown in both turnover and workforce consistently over the past 10 years. Due to this expansion they are currently hiring a range of technical and professional staff across all levels. The role:

Electrical Substation design and build is a key department. Civil works such as foundations, tunnelling for ducting and fence erection is just some of the jobs that are allocated to the newly dedicated substation civils team. Due to an internal promotion, the company is seeking to hire a Civils PM. The PM will have full responsibility for leading a team of project coordinators, site agents and direct field labour. The PM will also support the Operations Manager. 

Key duties and responsibilities. 



 
  • Leading and managing the national substation civils project team. 
  • Managing relationships with subcontractor partners as well as driving standards across direct labour team. 
  • Working with planners, operations management, subbies and other key stakeholders in delivering programme of works 
  • Driving continuous improvement through education, development and goal setting from the back office to the field. 
  • Ensuring field team maintain operational standards through audit, supervision and training. 
  • Reporting on activity and progress as per programme of works. 
  • Ensure commercial support manages clear and relevant cost reports. 
  • Become a subject matter expert on reinstatements on behalf of the company. 

The person:

 
  • You will have an excellent understanding of best practise in all manner of  civils works. 
  • Experience with substations is an advantage but general civils experience is sufficient. 
  • Previous people management experience 
  • Good computer skills, particularly with MS Excel. 
  • Ambitious individual who enjoys team leadership and delivering projects on time and in budget.
